The Sleeping Deep blog, David Lunch, The Star Tree, art news and Spotlight on...

:::  We're moving ahead with shooting HD test footage for "The Sleeping Deep". I started a BLOG to keep people updated with our progress. I'm really looking forward to it. Camera should roll sometime late March or early April. Woo-hoo!

::: Speaking of which, I just got word that The Sleeping Deep advanced as a semifinalist in this year's StoryPros Screenwriting Contest. Check the results here. I promise... I won't hold my breath.

::: On the business side of things, Flicker Pictures is proud to announce a partnership with San Jose cinematographer and editor John Tulin. We've combined forces to "build better movies, brick by brick" and created RedBrickFilms. The site is live and the content will trickle in over the next few weeks so go ahead and bookmark it, will ya?

::: Yes, DavidLunch.com is live and certainly has some folks scratching their heads. If you are a fan of David Lynch, one of my art-film heroes, David Lunch might tickle your funny bone. If not, there's always Everybody Loves Raymond.

::: After spending many years dormant, my children's book The Star Tree has finally sprouted. Check out it's progress at TheStarTreeBook.com. If you know anyone in the publishing business looking for a great story with eco-friendly values and amazing artwork, feel free to pass along the link.

::: During the months of January and February, my art will be hanging on the walls of the Cloud Forest Cafe in downtown Davis, California. You can get directions and more information about the show HERE.

::: The newest interview at Spotlight on... with animator Anthony Thurman from ALT Key Productions is up. Give it a read here when you get the chance.

::: The On the Fringe Special Edition DVD is now available for $4.99 - this price includes shipping. Buy a copy HERE. In addition to the DVD, a Collector's Edition printed version of the shooting screenplay will become available sometime this spring. Once I get the PDF sorted I'll post a link. Here are a few things worth mentioning...

:::  Frank the Barber, your favorite "Champion of Tradition", will be playing at the 4th Annual Davis Film Festival this April 6 & 7. This will be the first screening since it's premiere at the artstream Film Festival in Frank's hometown of Rochester, New Hampshire, where it grabbed the judge's award. Frank was also submitted to the New Hampshire, Wreck-Beach, and Nevada City film festivals. We'll see what happens.

:::  Chris Erickson at The Davis Enterprise published an interview covering the Davis Film Festival and Frank the Barber. Thanks for the publicity, Chris. Read the article here (jpeg) or here (PDF).

:::  the100x100site is gaining momentum. Since it's debut on the web, we've posted 4 rows (32 image/links) of rollovers. I'm hoping to get another 32 and another 32 and so on... Check out the link, email your pixels with URL and pass it on. Let's see if we can keep those rollovers rolling! URL http://www.flickerpictures.com/the100x100site.htm

:::  Flicker Pictures recently designed the website for it's partner Lai Khe Film Productions. As a Lai Khe team member, I am helping director Raymond Dussault with the image and design of his site. And, if all goes according to the plan, I'll be taking on the role of editor after his feature film Deer Season is shot. This is very exciting as I have discovered over the years just how much I enjoy the editing process. It will be a real treat to work with Ray in this capacity since he is quite the determined producer, writer and director. Go for it, man!

:::  Finally, my solo art show at Pipeworks Climbing Gym & Gallery kept the creative energy flowing when many of my film related projects were simmering on the back burner. Keeping busy with whatever available medium (art, music, writing) is key. I'll be working on more art down the road. Stay tuned!

And now, back to your original programming.

~ Jeff

OLD NEWS

** Editing has finally resumed on the documentary Frank the Barber **

Nearly 10 minutes of footage has been slowly coming together. Again, I hope to
complete a final cut by year's end. This would mean 2006 marks 10 years since
I stumbled upon Frank's barbershop in Rochester, NH and introduced the idea of
making him the subject of this historic piece. Ten years! That's quite a while.

All good things come to those who wait. And many have been waiting for
a long time... I know this will be the year. Stay tuned!
