I graduated with a B.A. in Theater, Arts, Speech and Film in 1993 and quickly found a way to put my interest and creative energy to work in the world of advertising at Sean Tracey Associates in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. After learning the ropes of commercial and broadcast production, I discovered I had a knack for graphic design and spent a few years cutting my teeth with print, page layout, photo shoots and the exciting process of design. It was this time that I produced my first short film This Was Loyd Greenblat on a shoestring in 1996, a production that gave me the opportunity to try out directing, writing, producing, shooting and editing. The final effort was submitted to numerous festivals and contests. While the process was satisfying, it only left me hungry for more and I immediately dove into producing the award-winning documentary Frank the Barber, a film that captures the life and times of Franklin Marchand, a small-town barber whose shop doubled as a used record store. The completed project is available on DVD and has been featured in a handful of festivals. In the fall of 1999, I shot what would become my first feature-length film On the Fringe, a labor of love from writing the first draft to the premiere on a chilly evening in December of 2001. The event was a fitting end to a seemingly endless creative process, but marked the beginning of a new found respect for telling a big story to an even bigger audience. Cinema had me hooked and I wanted more. Enter The Sleeping Deep, a genre mash-up with fantasy, sci-fi and horror elements that took top prize for Best Screenplay at the 2008 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival, 1st Place for Fantasy Screenplay at The Indie Gathering '09 and is short-listed with several contests, festivals and screenwriting competitions. With On the Fringe, I wrote what I could produce on a limited budget. With The Sleeping Deep, I took my foot off the brakes, put the pedal to the floor and let my imagination steer the wheel into uncharted territories... and beyond. Currently I work as a freelance video editor and project director for corporate and commercial clients. My long-term goal is to find the right fit with a producer or production company in the Los Angeles area and continue creating great stories through the medium of filmed entertainment. Thanks, Jeff
